Support for Addictions at Work

According to research released by the charity Gamcare, less than 1 in 10 workplace policies cover support for gambling issues. We have a comprehensive ‘Addictions at Work’ policy, developed through over 15 years’ complex casework experience and engaging with addicts.

Our policy approach:

  • Is non-judgmental, coming from the perspective of addiction as an illness.
  • Contains information on how to support people with a wide range of addictions in the workplace.
  • Focusses on prevention and recovery.
  • Provides advice on supporting employees who may be affected by someone else’s addiction, for example if they have caring or wellbeing needs.
  • Frames the culture for employment relations when issues might arise in work itself.
  • Covers legal responsibilities under health and safety law and employment rights, whilst protecting all employees and customers.

It covers everything employers are legally required to do, as well as broader good practice.
