The law around Fit Notes changes today in the UK.
From 1st July, 2022, in addition to Doctors,
- nurses,
- occupational therapists,
- pharmacists, and
- physiotherapists
who provide treatment through the NHS can issue Fit Notes.
A Fit Note no longer needs a physical signature, as long as the name and profession of the person issuing it is displayed.
Employers should always remember that a Fit Note belongs to the individual who receives it so should return original copies as soon as possible. Making and retaining a copy must comply with UKGDPR.
