Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Our CEO, Laura Evans, reflects on this year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week:

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week 2026. This year’s theme is ‘Take Action’ so today I’d like to highlight one of the most important things you can do to help someone take action: build trust.

The trust that someone places in another when they confide that they’re struggling is huge. It is a privilege when someone trusts you enough to open up, and this trust should never be broken.

I’ve heard far too often that when someone has opened up in the past, their trust has been broken. These sorts of situations may mean someone chooses not to confide in anyone again, which can increase isolation and loneliness and make things worse for them in the longer term.

This is why I often talk at events and in one to one sessions about knowing who is truly in your corner and surrounding yourself with those people.

Removing all the negative and untrustworthy people from your circle is one positive action we can all take to make a difference to our lives, not just people who are living with mental ill health.

The right people will always be around and there for you no matter what. Anyone who judges you or otherwise makes you feel less than your worth is themselves not worthy of your time and energy. Remember that, always.

So many people have sought my support over the years, not just people I’m close to or colleagues but even complete strangers in a crisis. It’s been a privilege to play a small part in helping them back on their feet. I have never betrayed a confidence.

If you are struggling, reach out to someone who will listen to and support you. You’re not alone.
