Today is ME Awareness Day and this week is ME Awareness Week. ME, short for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, is a debilitating, complex, chronic neurological condition affecting multiple body systems, for which there is no known cure and woeful treatment pathways. In severe cases it can be fatal.
The day one sick pay reforms which came into force under the Employment Rights Act 2025 are likely to benefit people living with conditions like ME where it is important to take time to manage any exacerbation of symptoms in the short term to prevent longer term impacts.
